FC Barcelona's winning form continued as the start of the Champions League approaches. Sigurdsson (7), Noddesbo (7) and Karabatic (6) led the scoring. Barça have made it four wins in four games in the Liga Asobal by winning away to the side from Cangas de Morrazo in Galicia by 28-35. Sigurdsson and Noddesbo got seven goals each and Karabatic had six. The Catalans led from start to finish, and were already three up after the first ten minutes (5:8), but the difference remained like that for most of the first half until a late scoring flurry saw them go to 12:18, and then to 15:22 at the break.

FC Barcelona returned to Liga Asobal action with a win in Pamplona that was much harder than the eventual 13 point difference suggests. The side from Navarra prevented the Catalans going more than three goals ahead for the first half hour, with Da Silva in exceptional form for the home side. Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas was outstanding in the Barça goal with 21 saves but by the end of the opening 30 minutes, Barça were only 21:19 up.

Spanish star ensemble FC Barcelona is the winner of the IHF Super Globe 2014. The team from the Iberian Peninsula defended its title from the last year and won the trophy for the second time. Host Al-Sadd Sports Club was a strong competitor but finally the favourite won sovereignly. Barcelona started into the match like a rocket, took the lead with 3:0 and dominated the first few minutes. But Al-Sadd was not shocked, performed better and found a way back into the match. The host reduced the difference of goals and achieved in the meantime a draw. But it was not enough to make the favourite nervous.

Barcelona, one of the most important handball clubs all over the world is on its way. The defending champion and the big favourite for the title was one or two numbers too big for the brave team from El-Jaish. The army-club from the capital of Qatar fought tough. But after an 11:9 for the host after 20 minutes the team from Spain turned the match, increased speed and pressure and with a burst of speed the Catalonians were back on track. The 19:14 after 30 minutes were a pre-decision.

“Super-Globe-Methusalem” Lazarov on the way to title number 3

Since the re-start in 2010, Doha, the capital of Qatar, is for the fifth time host of the IHF Super Globe. One of the strongest shooters in the handball world is participating in this tournament for the fifth time - Kiril Lazarov. The "gun" from Barcelona has a lot of experience with the Super Globe. As "Methusalem" of the tournament the left handed right back from Macedonia had won the title already two times before.

Third match - third victory. Defending champion FC Barcelona is on its way to defend its title. After a typical Spanish start which is like a "railway sleeping car" the team of coach Xavier Pascual dominated in its last preliminary round match against Esperance Tunis both half times. After a quick 4:1 for the underdog from Tunisia the defending champion decided to start playing the match and some minutes later Barcelona took over the lead with 10:5.

"David" Sydney annoys "Goliath" Barcelona - but only for 30 minutes: The first half of the match was a miracle. Underdog Sydney started like a rocket, while Barcelona slept well - so the team from down under took the lead by 4:1. Five minutes later the defending champion started its engine – 5:5 and after the first 15 minutes of the first half the favourite had reached a "normal" result with 10:5.

It was not the biggest show celebrated from the defending champion. But it was a clearly victory for the FC Barcelona against the host. Al-Sadd Sports Club was a good opponent but not strong enough to bring the favourite seriously in trouble. From the start on the former Champions League winner took the lead.

FC Barcelona handball team off to Qatar

The team are flying to Doha for the Super Globe 2014. The world handball championship for clubs, the Super Globe, is set to start and current holders FC Barcelona are heading for the Qatari capital. They met on Saturday morning at 8.30 AM CET at the Palau Blaugrana to have breakfast together before heading to the airport for an 11.00 AM flight to Doha.

The entertainment began with the presentation of the Asobal Super Cup and the Catalunya Cup plus a chance for the fans to see the up and coming players in the youth squads. Sigurdsson and Jallouz made a big impact in their Palau debuts while Gonzalo was particularly effective in goal.
