FC Barcelona have made it to fifty consecutive wins in the Liga Asobal with a 43:22 win on Saturday evening over Frigoríficos Morrazo Cangas. The win leaves them six points clear of Naturhouse La Rioja at the top of the league table. Barça stormed into a 5:2 lead, but the visitors then responded with some sound defending to get back to 6:5 on ten minutes before a 7:0 streak powered Barça into a commanding lead and there was no looking back from then on against the side currently fourth in the league standings.

A Herculean task awaits the defending winners of the VELUX EHF Champions League as SG Flensburg Handewitt will face the bundesliga rivals THW Kiel in the Last 16. Flensburg beat Kiel, the 2012 trophy holders 30:28 at the 2014 VELUX EHF FINAL4 last June. All eight pairings of the first knockout stage in March were confirmed on Tuesday as the last 16 draw of the premier European club competition took place in Vienna.

FC Barcelona beat Besiktas Mogatz 29:25 in the final game of the first phase in the Champions League. The game had no effect on the standings since Barça had already locked up a berth in the last 16 and Besiktas had already been mathematically eliminated. Barça rolled to victory in what was Oriol Rey's European debut while Tomás, Karabatic, Sorhaindo and Entrerríos did not play.

The Barça handball side picked up another victory away from home, this time at Ángel-Ximénez Puente Genil, to maintain their excellent post-World Championship form. Xavi Pascual's team gave their opponents no chance in the game as they were almost perfect both in attack and in defence. In goal, Saric in the first half and Gonzalo in the second were safe as houses and in attack Victor Tomás and Sigurdsson scored six goals a piece to lead the scoring. In the first half Karabatic and Sarmiento led the way going forward for the blaugranes.

FC Barcelona have secured Group B victory in the VELUX EHF Champions League with one round to spare. Barcelona's came out on top with a clear 33:27 home win against second-placed KIF Kolding Kobenhavn on Sunday night. KIF Kolding Kobenhavn were only able to follow FC Barcelona for the first few minutes up until the score read 4:4.


Lazarov another two years in Barcelona

Captain of Macedonian national team, Kiril Lazarov signed a new two year contract with Barcelona. In the first part of the current Championship Lazarov is "striking pin" of the Catalan team and it did not remain unnoticed by the club administration, which even offered him a longer contract that the first one.

The blaugranes returned to action with a comfortable win in the Palau in the first leg of the Spanish Cup quarter-finals. The Barça handball team started their 2015 in the best way possible with a victory over Naturhouse La Rioja. Following the break for the recent World Championship in Qatar, Xavi Pascual's side were back in action in the first leg of the Spanish Cup quarter-finals in a game that looked a tough contest on paper.
