The forward was presented this Monday as a new FC Barcelona Intersport player after signing a four-year contract with the Club. During the this afternoon's press conference, the player, who was formed in the Club's youth system, declared:

"I'm realising a dream that I've followed ever since I was a child" A couple of days ago the departure of Albert Rocas to Denmark was announced by the Club, and this Monday FC Barcelona Intersport presented its new forward. His name in Joan Saubich, a 23-year-old player who was formed in Barça's youth system. Saubich spent the last couple of seasons playing for Huesca before signing with Naturhouse La Rioja. Despite coming in after Rocas' farewell, Saubich was clear: "I'm not here to replace anyone, I'm here to do a job and help the team.

" Ahead of the upcoming season, Saubich, who signed a four-year contract with Barça, said, "I'm here to win titles because Barça must always try to win titles." He then went on to say that he "hopes to return all the confidence that has been placed in me by the Club." Xavi Pascual, manager and technical secretary of Barça's handball team, and Eduard Coll, director responsible for the team, were also at this afternoon's press conference. Coll welcomed the player to the team and noted that Saubich's signing didn't cost the Club an economic investment. Pascual said that the player's arrival "gives a lot of value to the work done by those who run the youth system." He added: "Saubich left the Club to get the necessary experience in order to be an important part of the first team, his progress has been satisfactory." The Barça manager then went on to explain what Saubich's role will be within the team. "He's a strong forward, fast and he has a good shot, but above all, he's a player who gives his all," he said. "He knows how we play and how we train, therefore he doesn't require any time to adapt."

Joan Saubich has come home, and he's done so in order to be an important first team player. "I knew I wanted to come back the moment I left Barça. I'm realising a dream that I've had ever since I was a child," said the 23-year-old. It's worth noting the Saubich was the fourth highest goalscorer of the Liga Asobal last season with Huesca (155 goals). "My objective is not to score a lot of goals, it's to help the team by playing my role. That's the only way I will play well," concluded Saubich.
