Abanca Ademar - FC Barcelona Lassa 33:37 (18:20)

The words Barça Lassa handball team are now synonymous with records, even more so after their latest win on Wednesday against Abanca Ademar León. Xavi Pascual's team have recorded their 73rd victory in a row in the ASOBAL league, surpassing the record set by Granollers between 1969 and 1972 (67 wins and 5 draws). The run that started on 25 May 2013 against Guadalajara has now reached record breaking proportions with the victory over León. Going past the record of 72 games unbeaten was not easy for the blaugranes away from home.

The scoring was evenly balanced early on until Barça's physical superiority began to take effect. Jallouz played his part in giving Xavi Pascual's team a 15:10 lead after 20 minutes of the game. The team coached by former blaugrana Rafa Guijosa, spurred on by the home crowd, came back to cut the lead to just one point at 15:16 and then end the half just 20:18 behind. In the second half the Barça keeper Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas took the opportunity to shine and show his quality. The same was true for Ademar keeper Nacho Biosca, a former blaugrana, who also shone in between the posts. With Barça just 29:28 up with just 10 minutes to go, the home side harboured ambition of ending the blaugranes' amazing run. However, in the final minutes the side coached by Xavi Pascual showed their experience and with Jallouz and Lazarov leading the way. Another former Barça player in Juanín kept León in the game at 31:32 but then the blaugranes tightened the screw to take a 33:37 win away from home, their 73rd in a row, an historic achievement.
